Answers to some common questions
Even though Istanbul is Turkey’s largest metropolitan city, Istanbul’s crime rates as they relate to foreigners are very low so there is minimal risk from crime in Istanbul. Remain aware of the potential for petty crimes such as pickpocketing in popular tourist areas and other crowded locations.
We do our best to accommodate the special dietary needs of our guests, however we can’t guarantee all stops will be able to do so. Please common dietary needs/preferences (eg. vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free), and based on that your guide will be able to identify items you might want to avoid. If you have life-threatening allergies it is not recommended you take our tours.
Absolutely not! Taste of Istanbul Food Tours combines architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique experiences. You will be walking through different parts of the city, eating the local artisans’ most delicious foods while learning from the people who live here.
Yes, we only offer tours in English at this time. Please email us if you would like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour.
We walk at a leisurely pace. Our tours cover approximately 4 to 5 kilometres of walking. At most locations we will be sitting down, however there will be some locations where we will be standing.
Absolutely! We encourage people to purchase items to support our partners. Having said that, the experiences are organized to arrive at each tasting location at a specified time, therefore it is important to stay on schedule so the food is freshly prepared for the guests. There is usually plenty of time to purchase items at each stop, but your guide will give you warning as to when we are leaving for the next stop and ask you to get your shopping done before the group leaves.
We are a hardy bunch! The tours are held rain, shine, or snow. Please dress for the weather conditions and bring an umbrella if necessary.
Note the tours are at least 3 hours long and some children have a limited attention span. The tour may not be appropriate for some children. Parents know their child best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child. It is also possible to use baby strollers.
Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at almost every food-tasting location.
Yes. Private tours are perfect for networking groups, large outings with friends, family gatherings, birthday parties, out of town guests, team building, ladies or singles groups and are available on request. Options are available to customize length, start times, distance and number of tasting locations. Please reach us on hello@tasteof.istanbul for more details.
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend the tour you have booked you may reschedule for another time and date up to 48 hours prior to the booked time. Within 48 hours you are welcome to send someone else in your place.
Yes! We are totally okay with guests who take photos or videos. If you get any great shots we’d love for you to share them with us.
